Life and the way it works:  The paths we take and the roads we end up on.  I’m sitting here in preparation of the final hours of my McAllen chapter and I can’t help but reminisce about my adventure in South Texas and how I ended up here.  I flew into Austin Sept 8, 2011, two days before my birthday, no ID, and ready to celebrate on 6th street with a crew I met on my previous trip.  With a business mindset I was going to introduce my photography to the island. That was my plan.  Instead I ended up living in Port Isabel for 6 weeks, which was a fun adventure. I ended up working in Brownsville which allowed me an opportunity to experiment with ideas and get a feel for the Valley. I had no idea the island worked in seasons. Needless to say this part of my trip was a learning struggle.  Then the McAllen chapter happened around Thanksgiving 11’.

This chapter’s plan was to make the proper adjustments in order to extend my stay.  I never knew McAllen existed; now I had to create a business here.  Now I am going to miss McAllen, mainly the people I met.  I think I needed McAllen to meet who I met and to grow as a person.  This is not a good bye.  I will still conduct lots of business here, however the island is what brought me here (once I found out you had one).  The island was always the goal.  McAllen could still end up being headquarters, but for now I have to spend at least one year on the island.  The island is where preparation meets opportunity; I look at the island as a breathtaking studio waiting to be put on the map.  I have the URLs to build something amazing. It was just a matter of time when the opportunity would present itself.  That time is now.

The two and half plus years I spent here in McAllen were an experience to say the least.  I can’t even begin to tell you about the people I met.  You are what make this area unique.  Most of you are amazing, others not so much.  Being in the Valley gave me time to develop the skills to seek out any lifestyle I wanted. I have spent the last year creating a foundation to a brand that my parents would be proud of.  Those who have entered my life within the past year have seen a wedding studio slowly develop.  Those who have been with me from the beginning of my Texas adventure have seen the obstacles I’ve had to overcome to get to where I am today.  Those who have known me my whole life know how much my family means to me.  Those who know the whole story from the very beginning are watching what happens when giving a chance to shine.  Nothing limits you besides the law and even that is questionable. McAllen it’s been fun, however it’s time to kick it up a notch.  I’ll see you again on Sunday for the wedding expo and for business after that.   Now it’s time to do what I wanted to do with my trip to Texas and that has been live on the island.   Who knows what will happen?  I know what will happen if I don’t try.  YOLO right.  I know the “slow” season is coming up, but is it?  You say slow. I say peaceful.  Have you been on the island in Oct and November?  It’s perfect out.  Photography could be used as a daily activity, could it not?  Will it be?  I don’t know.  I know I have a very good chance of seeing the world because of my photography.  I am going to see what will happen, so stay tuned for the “Island Edition”
